Samsung CLP-300/ CLP-300N Dating from 2006 the Samsung CLP-300 is a low-cost to buy colour laser printer - its price was around £160. Printers at this price are intended to compete with colour inkjets rather than give low cost per page. PC-pro reckonned running costs were still reasonable at 8.7p per page including the cost of new imaging units (drums) but not the longer life consumables. It was considered "an attractve offering at this price". The print process uses four colour toner mechanisms arranged around a drum inside the imaging unit, then the drum images build up on a belt before transfering to the page. Mono pages print at 16ppm but colour at just 4ppm.
As usual with low cost printers the cost of parts may appear doubtful when compared with the price of a whole new printer. However most of the parts are not too difficult to change and parts diagrams are available on the web.
